Welcome to the Florida Diversity Council’s Second Annual Florida LGBT-Allies Diversity Summit!
Through this year’s theme, What the HRC Corporate Equality Index Means to Your Business and Our Community, we’ll candidly discuss the benefits and challenges that accompany effective inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender team members in the workplace.
We’re honored to host this year’s statewide LGBT-Allies Diversity Summit at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute—the only Florida facility between Tallahassee and Miami to earn the distinction as a 2012 Leader in HRC’s Healthcare Equality Index!
Human Rights Campaign
Together, with two representatives from the Human Rights Campaign, Deena Fidas and Liz Cooper, we’ll explore the Corporate Equality Index in depth, including its criteria and creative and cost-effective best practices. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is the nation’s largest LGBT equality advocacy organization. Using transparent and quantifiable criteria, HRC measures, ranks, and publishes its findings about LGBT inclusion in the workplace (Corporate Equality Index), access to healthcare (Healthcare Equality Index), and recognition and protection under local and municipal laws (Municipal Equality Index).
Real Stories and Experiences
Next, a panel of distinguished professionals and influential community members will share with us stories from the trenches about their organizations’ struggles and triumphs with LGBT inclusion efforts and their experiences and efforts to encourage LGBT equality across Florida.
Equality in Action
The keynote address by Morgan Stanley’s Managing Director, Caroline Gundeck, will discuss “Being Commercial: The Power of Diverse Partnerships.” She will share with us the riveting story of how she and her team helped shape Morgan Stanley’s culture of inclusion to achieve incredible results, ultimately improving the company’s recruitment, retention, productivity, morale, market share, and bottom line, paving the way for Morgan Stanley’s 100% HRC Corporate Equality Index rating.
It is our hope and goal that that the Summit leaves attendees with creative and attainable ideas to share with their respective organizations, whether in the corporate, small business, public sector, or non-profit arena. It is our honor and privilege to serve as this year’s Summit Chairs, and we look forward to exchanging ideas and enjoying the event with you.
